Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the SaveTrack service — the website as well as the mobile and web application for vehicle tracking — processes, why, how long it is kept and what rights you have. Processing is governed by the GDPR.

Who the controller is

What data we process

  • Vehicle location data — coordinates, speed, heading, odometer reading and the time of the record. The location is sent by the GPS unit fitted in the vehicle, not by a mobile phone.
  • Trip data — start and end of the trip, route, distance driven and the purpose of the journey if you enter one.
  • Vehicle and driver data — vehicle identification, the assigned driver and any data you enter into the application.
  • Account and contact data — name, e-mail, phone and the password stored as a cryptographic hash.
  • Technical data — IP address and access logs, needed for the security and operation of the service.

What we use the data for

We process the data solely to provide the service you ordered — showing vehicle positions, keeping the mileage log, reports and alerts — and to operate, secure and support it. The legal basis is performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in the security of the service.

We do not sell the data and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. We do not pass it to third parties for their own purposes.

Security — location is encrypted

Transfers between the device, the application and the server are encrypted. Location data is additionally stored encrypted in the database — it never sits there in readable form. We use the modern algorithms XChaCha20-Poly1305 and Argon2id for key derivation.

Every customer has their own encryption key and the keys are managed separately from the data. A database leak therefore yields only unreadable ciphertext.

Who we share data with

  • The server infrastructure provider in the European Union where the service is operated.
  • Services that convert coordinates into an address (geocoding). Only the coordinates of a point are passed to them, not data about you or the vehicle.
  • Public authorities, where required by law.

Data is stored on servers in the European Union.

How long we keep the data

We keep location and trip data for the duration of the service so that the history and the mileage log remain available to you. Operational and technical logs are deleted on an ongoing basis. After account deletion we erase the data — the procedure is described below.

Data from the partner programme

In the partner programme a partner passes us the contact of a company they recommend — an e-mail or company ID — together with their own e-mail. In this case we do not obtain the data from you directly but from a third party; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in approaching the company with an offer (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

When we first get in touch we always tell you who gave us your contact. We use it for a single offer — if you are not interested, we delete the data. The partner’s e-mail and their declaration are kept for the duration of the programme and the settlement of rewards.

Account deletion and data erasure

You can request deletion of your account and erasure of all data at any time — neither the application nor an active subscription is needed.

Write to info@savetrack.sk from the e-mail address you registered with, using the subject "Account deletion". We will handle the request within 30 days.

What is deleted: the account and login details, vehicle and driver data, location and trip history and all related records.

What we must retain: records we are required by law to keep (for example accounting records of paid services). We keep those only for the statutory period and use them for nothing else.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and the right to object. You can exercise them at info@savetrack.sk. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you may lodge a complaint with the Slovak Data Protection Authority.

Monitoring of employees

If you use the service to track company vehicles, you as the employer are the controller of the drivers’ data — we act as a processor. It is your responsibility to inform employees about the monitoring and to meet your obligations under the GDPR and labour law.

Cookies and changes to this policy
